Training and Development

Barrowmore offers a varied range of training and development courses for people with disabilities. These are undertaken in its purpose built training centre comprising practical and classroom areas and its own computer suite.



Vocational Training

These programmes are designed to enable people with a difficulty and or disability to achieve nationally recognised vocational qualifications, which they can select from a variety of subjects areas.

• Motor vehicle maintenance and valeting
• Plumbing
• Woodwork
• Fork Lift Truck Driving
• ICT



Each course contains Information Advice and Guidance in addition to an element of confidence building. There is also a strong emphasis on using Vocational Training to develop Independent Living Skills, encouraging learners to become more independent, self sufficient and to increase self-esteem and self motivation.

Disability Awareness Training

Barrowmore training has developed a one day Disability Awareness Course accredited by National Open College Network, The course comprises 5 sessions with practical exercises, group discussions and video clips and is aimed at organisations and individuals who work directly or indirectly with people with a disability.



Basic Skills

Barrowmore also runs Basic Skills training in numeracy and literacy to enable people with a disability to gain a firm grounding in achieving their fullest potential.
