Employability

Barrowmore offers a variety of programmes developing employability skills and work readiness. All of our training, teaching and earning takes place on Barrowmore’s 85 acre country estate. We develop learners’ employability skills in CV writing, Job Search Techniques, Job Applications and Interview Skills. Learners may also choose from a variety of programmes which will equip them with the skills they need to enter employment.

Barrowmore Estate’s large open grounds and woodland are also used for activities such as orienteering and guided walks, providing learners with skills required in the workplace, including:
  • Team-working
  • Negotiation and Mediation
  • Confidence building
  • Social skills

Additionally, our learners have the opportunity to gain real-life practice at many of the 50 small to medium businesses situated on our on-site Barrowmore Enterprise Park, thereby gaining:
  • Employability skills in practice
  • Work experience
Barrowmore, therefore, provides learners with a rounded experience as they:
  • learn the skills required to enter the workforce,
  • observe and gain an understanding of a range of business enterprises in practice to inform their vocational choice, and
  • gain work experience on our on-site Enterprise Park.
